" This is my 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis...has 275,000 miles on it (375,000??) and still runs very well. It has a 400 CID engine with FMX automatic transmission. It has had all of the brake components replaced including wheel cylinders, rubber lines and master cylinder, new carburetor, valve cover gaskets, voltage regulator, alternator, starter solenoid, radiator, fuel pump, tires and wheels, new belts and hoses, and I added a gauge package to it as it does not have any factory gauges except fuel. The factory Philco-Ford 8 track radio still works well! It has driven to Abilene and the Dallas metroplex many times with no trouble. "

It's still looking, and sounding good for that many miles. It'll be really nice with working a/c. Especially in our Texas summers! I had to completely rebuild my a/c on the 81 Silverado since the people that stole it removed the entire system for some reason. I also prefer gauges over warning lights. Hopefully the clock is an easy fix too.

Your cooling fan does'nt work at a standstill because the fan shroud is missing, causing a major lack of vacume from the fan, you either need a new fan shroud, gool luck finding that, or install an electric fan.

I'm sorry I can't give advice on vinyl, I just removed all of the old vinyl and painted the top.

It has always passed its state inspection...emissions tests are not required in this area.

lol john michael montgomery I dont see how that thing passed the Texas State Emission law thing here since you know here in Texas that we have to have that emission's test thing.

I had a 76 four gold coloured door Mercury Marquis. We had it in our family for over 30 years. Unfortunately we ran out of space and had to get rid of it. The last 5 years the car was on my driveway which really weathered it. I enjoyed it very much as it was the first car I learned to drive when I was 16. I fiqured if I could drive that boat I could drive anything. Thanks for sharing your video as it brought back some good memories !

I guess this is what used to be the Mercury Monterey with the Grand Marquis trim level. I'm a Chevy owner, but this is...) Cool!
